Up-cycling is the New Black!!

Hi guys, it's been a while. We did pop in, once in a while, on our Facebook & Twitter page - are you following us yet (shameless plug-in I know)?? Yes we know we have been missing!! Without hogging any attention or piling on excuses, let's make it brief that I had been hospitalized and operated upon. In the process of recuperation, the blog was a bit neglected. Anyhoo, let's get back to business, shall we?

So buying furniture - you see around such beauties - in the stores, online, in someone else' home. Then you look at how you are stuck in a rut. The lofty investment gives you nightmares and sub-standard cheapo furniture is not your style. Upcycling and makeovers are here to your rescue. Luckily, we stay in India where it is still feasible to hire a carpenter to lift your magic wand for you. To all the people, who are enterprising enough to DIY (do-it-yourself), way to go - the change is in your hands (how Barack Obama was that :P).

Joy To The World!!

I don't know how many of you relate to it, but I went to a Catholic Girls' School and this time of the year - in my mind - is the most festive. As a kid, I used to be super excited about December approaching because it would mean my school will be decked up, there will be carols sung and Santa Claus (I still don't know who dressed up as Santa in our school) distributing gifts. Just before the holidays, the Nativity scene will be enacted and I used to be in awe every year!!! Christmas is such a festival that it inevitably spreads a lot of cheer and happiness. What better way to add to this happiness than reflecting it in your home?

Below are few easy crafts and decor ideas for making your home Christmas ready -

1) Christmas Tree on Cones : In our busy lives, not all of us can afford a big decked up tree in our homes. Apart from time, sometimes space or other factors also don't allow us to go all out with a big tree. Of course, when you go out in the market, you will get hordes of mini trees - which frankly look like a tack fest. How about you can make your own, which by no way, compromises on  style.
You have to start by making cones, which can be of different sizes - say, as tall as 28" or as short as 9". A variety of sizes helps in creating a collection. Using poster boards or thick paper plates you can make your cone which will act as a base for your tree decoration. You can follow it up with a decoration of your choice - the options are myriad.

I Love You, Domino

No I don't mean the pizza (well I love that too!!) but the magazine. I am a fan of their out of the box ideas in terms of decor and design. I was going around the website Buzzfeed and came across this amazing article on what all Domino magazine has taught us over the years. It had stopped circulation in between but is back and spreading the awesomeness around again. Like the writer of this article, Jacki Reeve, says "how the magazine was basically the Pinterest before there was Pinterest". I thought I will share it with you all to get inspiration. I am providing the link here and also pasting the article below. I am in no way claiming any contribution in the article and it is the property of Buzzfeed.com and the writer Jacki Reeve. Here it is for you to know what all has Domino magazine taught us over the years and how the list below resonates with all kinds of decorators - Traditional, Contemporary or Quirky.
